Cadets and staff of 1297 (Stonehaven) Squadron A.T.C. are to host an open night today (Thursday).

Guests can pop along to their headquarters at Beachgate Lane from 7 to 9pm to find out more.

The evening will give any boy or girl aged between 13 and 17, as well as their parents, an opportunity to meet the cadets and staff and also see and try some of the activities which are available to cadets on the squadron.

Activities on show will include the flight simulator, so if you would like to try your hand as a pilot this will be a great opportunity.

There will also be an opportunity to see the robot challenge as well as a radio exercise.

Information will be available from staff and cadets on the many varied activities available through membership of the squadron, including sports, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and adventure training.

During the past year members have undertaken expeditions and fitness sessions as well as community involvement.

The Stonehaven Squadron meets every Thursday evening at Beachgate Lane.
