Portlethen Tennis Club has paid tribute to their “much loved” Club President who passed away on Friday 19 October.

Seventy-year-old Alex Hamilton from Newtonhill died peacefully in hospital with his wife Pat and daughter by his side.

Mr Hamilton was a retired art teacher who worked at Hazlehead Academy for 30 years. He had been a member at Portlethen Tennis Club for many years and the club said: “The club will be poorer for his loss and all of us, as individuals, have lost a dear friend. It’s hard to believe we won’t be seeing his cheery presence on the tennis courts any more.”

Alex’s funeral took place on Friday 26 October. PTC members contributed a donation of £250 to chosen charity ARI Neuro Sciences.
