Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee this afternoon agreed to turn down plans for a supermarket, hotel, restaurant and petrol filling station a Ury Estate on the outskirts of Stonehaven.
The decision was in line with council officer recommendations, as the land use is contrary to the Local Development Plan.
Concerns had been raised about the impact a supermarket out of town would have on the town centre, pipeline constraints and the impact on Ury House, which is due to be renovated.
Plans for 230 homes on the estate were unaffected by today’s decision.
The committee’s decision will go before Full Council on November 20 for determination.
