Next week sees a second round of Ward Forums taking place in Kincardine and Mearns. The purpose of these forums is to develop a platform for two way communication between communities and agencies and for us all to gain a better understanding of and ability to meet local needs and aspirations.
It also provides an opportunity for local networking and a clear, direct line of communication between communities and the local Community Planning Group.
Back in February 2012, a Ward Forum was held in each of the three electoral wards in Kincardine and Mearns to help determine the issues of greatest concern to communities. “What are the priorities for your area?” was the question put to local residents. The feedback from residents is helping the Community Planning Group to update the Community Plan for the area.
Access & Transport and Social Care & Disability were the top priorities for Ward 17 (Portlethen & North Kincardine) with Sports and Leisure and Social Care and Disability deemed to be the top priorities for Ward 18 (Stonehaven & Lower Deeside). Residents from Ward 19 (Mearns & Coastal) felt that Economic Development and Access and Transport were the main concerns.
The next round of Ward Forums will focus on priority issues for each Ward area and will take place on Thursday September 20, 7pm – 9pm.
Ward 17 Forum (Portlethen & North Kincardine) will take place at Lairhillock Primary School, Netherley and will focus on Access to Services and Information.
Ward 18 Forum (Stonehaven & Lower Deeside) will take place at the Invercarron Resource Centre in Stonehaven and will look at Sport & Leisure.
Ward 19 Forum (Mearns & Coastal) will be at the Burgh Hall in Inverbervie and will focus on Economic Development.
These Ward Forums are open to all so please feel free to come along if you have an interest in the topic to be discussed. For more information, please contact your Community Planning Officers, Emma Kidd and Karelia Wright, on 01569 768327.
