Bervie Caley 2 Turriff Thistle 1

BERVIE began their season in Division One North with a hard-fought victory over Turriff.

It may actually be the first time that Bervie have won their opening fixture since joining the Aberdeenshire Amateur League.

Bervie took the lead in ten minutes when Fraser Cerretti scored with a cross to the back post which looped over the keeper.

Bervie, with four or five players missing and six players under 19 in their side, continued to press and Muir shot wide, then Wilson headed past the post.

Turriff scored out of nothing in 30 minutes. They broke down the right and a looping header beat Donaldson.

Donaldson made two good saves to keep his side on terms at the break.
Bervie started the second half well and both Muir and Cerretti were unlucky with efforts from outside the box. At the other end, Donaldson made a point blank save.

Bervie clinched all three points ten minutes from time. The keeper saved from Muir and Cerretti netted the rebound.
