Johnshaven 1 Banchory 6

AFTER more than a two week lay-off, Johnshaven played their final game of the season on Monday June 2, at home to a powerful Banchory side who have finished as champions of Division Two East.

Johnshaven forced an early corner, taken by Gourlay and Leon Dundas headed wide on the near post.

In 12 minutes a free-kick from Scott found Ross Blease and his powerful header just cleared the bar.

Banchory went close in 16 minutes when a sh
ot hit the underside of the Johnshaven bar and was cleared by the home defence.

A minute later, another Banchory shot rattled against the post.

Johnshaven continued to attack and Lownie headed wide from a Gourlay corner, then in 26 minutes a Leon Dundas shot was saved by the diving keeper.

On the half-hour mark, Scott headed wide from a Gourlay corner.

Banchory took the lead in 32 minutes with a header from a corner.

Four minutes later, the ball was played into the box and Banchory made it 2-0 from close range.

Banchory added a third goal three minutes into the second half when the ball was slammed home from close range.

Johnshaven got a goal back in 61 minutes. Gourlay, Lownie and Ross Blease were all involved in the build-up and Dave McKay shot past the advancing keeper.

In 67 minutes, an angled ball into the box was slotted past the advancing Walker, then in 77 minutes, a long throw was headed into the top corner to make the score 5-1.

Banchory completed the scoring in 83 minutes with Johnshaven claiming offside.

Man of the match was Stuart McDonald.
