Johnshaven 4 Kintore 3

JOHNSHAVEN Athletic came out on top in a high scoring clash with Kintore to take three points from their opening game of the season.

The game was played in heavy showers, especially in the second half.
Johnshaven took the lead in 15 minutes. A free-kick from Buist found Ross Blease and he outjumped the Kintore defence to head home.

It was 2-0 just two minutes later. The ball
was cleared as far as Grant Philip and he sent an unstoppable shot under the diving keeper.

Kintore hit the sidenetting, then Lorenson had to make a diving save at the edge of the box.

In 24 minutes, the keeper parried a shot from Leon Dundas.

A minute later, Philip cut along the byeline and sent in a cross-cum-shot which found the corner of the net to make it 3-0.

Kintore hit back and in 28 minutes they scored with a shot which went just inside the post.

On the half-hour mark, with Johnshaven claiming offside, Kintore shot home to get back to within a goal.

In 49 minutes, a half-volley from Calder dropped the wrong side of the post.

In 53 minutes, Leon Dundas rounded the keeper and his shot was cleared off the line.

Kintore were back on level terms in 69 minutes when a cross into the box was fired home on the half-volley giving Lorenson no chance.

Minutes later, McKay forced a save from the keeper. McKay was denied by the keeper again and from the rebound, a follow-up header from Reid was saved.

Johnshaven regained the lead in 81 minutes when Dave McKay headed home a Ross Blease corner.

Five minutes later, Lorenson saved with his feet to preserve the Johnshaven lead.

With the 90 minutes up, McKay rounded the keeper and shot into the sidenetting, then in stoppage-time, Leon Dundas had a shot well saved.

Man of the match was Craig Lownie and match sponsor was Mike Sangster Joiner.

Johnshaven: Lorenson, Scott, Lownie, Buist, Gardiner, R. Blease, Cruickshank (McKay), Reid, L. Dundas, Philip, Calder (Bell). Subs: Gunnis, Strachan.
