LUTHERMUIR FC are celebrating what turned out to be an excellent season.

The Muir had a late run of form in the league which saw them lose only twice in their final 12 games.

That was enough to give them fifth place in Division Two East and they won a play-off against University Colts, who were fifth in Division Two North, which means they will play Division One football next season.

The success in the play-off was added to their triumph in the Barclay Cook Cup final earlier in the season.

Luthermuir had a home record of W8 D2 L3 F31 A17 and an away record of W5 D2 L6 F32 A32 for an overall W13 D4 L9 F63 A49 Pts 43.

Their league record was: Glendale D4-4 (h) W2-1 (a); Stoneywood Ams W1-0 (h) L2-3 (a); Insch L0-1 (h) L2-3 (a); Ellon Thistle D1-1 (h) L2-5 (a); Halliburton W4-2 (h) L1-2 (a); Rothie Rovers L1-2 (h) L1-3 (a).

Grammar FP W2-0 (h) W2-1 (a); Monymusy L4-6 (h) W6-2 (a); Bankhead W5-0 (h) L2-6 (a); Uni Strollers W2-0 (h) W3-0 (a); McTeagle W2-1 (h) D2-2 (a); FC Polska W3-0 (h) D2-2 (a); Deva Dons W2-0 (h) W5-2 (a).

In their march to glory in the Barclay Cook Cup, Luthermuir beat Monymusk 3-0 aet, Deva Dons 2-1, Halliburton 2-1, then Stoneywood 3-1 in a thrilling final.

They didn't make much of an impact in any other cup. In the Scottish Cup they lost in a replay to Halliburton after drawing away from home.

In the Dickie Trophy they had a fine win over Ellon Thistle, then lost 3-2 aet against Hilton who were to be champions of Division Three.

Echt beat them in the AFC Trophy and Mill Inn beat them in the North of Scotland Cup.

Incredibly, Murdoch Anderson was top scorer for the 15th successive season. His 17 goals had him one ahead of strike partner Ryan Arthur.

In the 2-0 play-off win against Colts, Ryan scored the first goal, then Murdoch notched the second to go back to one ahead.

Luthermuir scored 63 league goals, 20 in the cups and two in the play-off.

Other totals were Paul Durrand nine and Hamish Stuart, Neil Arthur and Euan Duff all with eight. Scott Robertson had four, Martin Reid three, Glover, Greig, Stuart Lindsay and Fotheringham all two and Tough, Walker, Morrison and Iain Stuart one.
