Mintlaw 5 St Laurence 1

ST LAURENCE are staring relegation in the face after losing heavily at Mintlaw on Saturday.

The Saints could only muster 11 players, so were up against it from the start.

Gareth Reid shot just over for St Laurence in five minutes, but with ten minutes gone, Mintlaw took the lead. A long ball bounced over the defence and left an attacke
r with an easy finish.

In 15 minutes, a 25 yard shot from Duncan was tipped over.

Mintlaw made it 2-0 in 25 minutes with a shot which went in off the post.

A minute later, Harley somehow missed with a volley from eight yards.

It was 3-0 in 30 minutes when Jamie Leitch missed a cross and the ball was headed home.

Ten minutes into the second half, the Saints were denied a penalty when Gareth Reid was brought down.

The Laurencekirk side scored on the hour when Derek Anderson headed home a corner.

Minutes later, they failed to clear a long ball and Mintlaw made it 4-1, then a free header on the back post completed the scoring.

Saints play their final game tomorrow, away to Bankhead. They have to win and hope that their points total might be enough to keep them out of the relegation places.

St Laurence: J. Leitch, Howie, Morris, Anderson, Moir, Johnston, Borland, Harley, Duncan, Manson, Smith.
