Bervie hit five

Bervie Caley 5 Newmachar 1 BERVIE continued their recent good form with a resounding victory on a sodden Booth Park on December 5.

Playing up the slope Bervie pressed right from the off and should have scored early on when the ball was cut back but Anderson blazed high and wide.

Once again they thought they had scored when Cerretti cut inside a defender only to shoot against the post. The third good Bervie chance amongst several more half chances fell to Hamilton who when faced with an open goal eight yards out skied it high over the bar.

The breakthrough came after 35 minutes when Cerretti again beat his marker to shoot low into the net.

Bervie wanted to keep the lead their play deserved but they let Newmachar back into the game when a half cleared corner was volleyed back into the net.

Only a fine Edgar tackle and follow up save from Duncan kept the score level.

On the stroke of half time Robertson collected a square ball from Hadden and promptly stuck it into the top corner from fully 30 yards to give the hosts a deserved half time lead.

Bervie continued their good performance into the second half and scored within 5 minutes when once again Cerretti left his marker trailing to coolly slot home.

It was one way traffic now and the lead was further increased when Cerretti skipped to the byline and crossed for Anderson to score from a yard out although he tried his best to miss.

Bervie went nap when a Harper cross was flicked home by the head of Milne.

Bervie were looking to score six for the third game running and should have done with several good chances falling to Milne, Harvey and Maddock. Maddock also cracked a 25 yard effort off of the bar with the goalie floundering.

This was a much improved performanc which left the management team happy.
