Bervie hit six

Blackburn 3 Bervie 6 BERVIE Caley played their penultimate league game on Saturday and chalked up a fine win at Blackburn.

Blackburn kicked off but found themselves a goal down after a few seconds when Mennie latched onto a slack back pass to give Bervie the lead.

Bervie continued to press and created several chances with the best falling to Cerretti and Anderson.

The failure to get a second goal was punished when Blackburn scored with a rare attempt on goal.

Bervie got the half time lead they craved when Cerretti broke on the right and crossed for Robertson to side foot home (with his right foot).

The visitors began the second half in determined fashion and soon increased their lead when Cerretti broke on the left this time and crossed for Mennie to control and fire home.

The fourth goal came when Anderson had a long range effort cleared off the line, but the rebound fell to Cerretti who kept his composure to fire home.

Goal number five came when Cerretti was once again felled at the edge of box and Hadden fired home an unstoppable drive.

Bervie kept pushing back an increasingly frustrated and ragged Blackburn and they made it 6-1 when a cross from Edgar was bulleted home off the forehead of the Blackburn sweeper for an own-goal.

With the job done Bervie relaxed and allowed their hosts to score two late goals which made the final scoreline far closer than it should have been.

There were several candidates for man of the match, including Anderson and Harper but the accolade went to the evergreen Paul Robertson. Day Team Sponsor was Gourline.

Bervie's final game is at home to Insch.
