Sunshine, warmth and a neat hard track welcomed the Grammar opening batsmen to take on Thistle 1st X1, after Thistle skipper Milroy won the toss.
thistle got the perfect start when Clive Hinchcliffe had Vijapur trapped in front in the first over.
Booth played the ball hard and was moving the field back before inexplicably leaving a Findlay (17-1) delivery which took his stumps on 16.
Hinchcliffe (11-2) then bowled Morrison after a patient five. Davey was unlucky to steer a legside Mason (19-1) delivery from the back of the bat to Jon VDR at slip.
Grammar reached 50 but lost their fifth wicket when McDonald was bowled by Chris VDR (7-1).
Mapplebeck was run out courtesy of Keith and Ritchie for three. Jon VDR then returned excellent figures of 10-3, two bowled and a lbw. King (1-0) also got in on the act, having Clelland trapped in front, during his two over spell. The Grammar innings closing on 69 from 26 overs.
Milk cake was the South African delicacy presented at tea prior to Milroy and Donald taking the crease.
Donald set off with some blistering straight drives from Mapplebeck who was replaced by Stuart.
Vijapur was controlling a much tighter line from the river end and was rewarded with the scalp of the skipper Milroy who played around a full toss on 11.
Vijapur then bowled Keith for 2 but Thistle didn’t look troubled and Jon VDR joined Donald to reach the total with a concluding six. Donald finished unbeaten on 37no with Jon VDR an assured 15 not out.
