Luthermuir WFC entertained high flying Elgin City on a sunny afternoon at Luthermuir Park and were hoping to get another three points on the board.

First chance fell to Luthermuir when good work down the left had Murison in space where she crossed to the back post and Andrew just missed with the goal gapping.

The game became even for the next 10 minutes with neither team managing to beat either keepers. Aball in behind the back line had the Elgin attacker racing away at goal, she fired a great shot but Charles brilliantly pushed it round the post for a corner, which was cleared.

Luthermuir then went straight up the park where a corner down the right was whipped over by Walker and Elgin cleared and went straight on the attack. With six on three, Elgin got into the box and fired a shot goalwards but Charles held well. A succession of chances fell to Burns and Boyack but their shots were saved by the away keeper.

A great chance for Luthermuir was not taken when Walker won the ball at the back and fired a pass down the left. where Burn flicked it onto Lownie and she went one on one with the defender. She skipped past her challenge and headed in on goal but screwed her shot wide of the post.

Another chance was wasted when good work by Lownie and Andrew down the right had the formerLownie racing into the box where she fired a low shot and the keeper saved at her feet. Lownie was first to react and fired another shot which the keeper held well.

On the 38th minute, Elgin made the breakthrough when some good work in the middle released the girl down the right, she cut inside 20 yards from goal and fired an unstoppable shot over Charles for 1-0.

HT 0-1

Luthermuir WFC were looking to get the second period started quickly but the pace had dropped from the first half with very little chances being created.

They had another good chance when Brough played a ball over the back line for Lownie to skip clear of the last defender. As she headed in on goal, her shot was pushed away for a corner, Walker fired over the cross but it was missed by everyone at the back.

A few minutes later, Brough went down the right and fired a cross over that was pushed away for another corner which was cleared by the defence.

Great work down the left by Elgin created a chance when the attacker cut into the box and fired a high shot at goal which Charles tipped over the bar and the corner was cleared by the defence.

Luthermuir were worried that they would rue the chances they were missing and, within a few minutes, this happened. Elgin played the ball down the middle and with a one two had got in behind the back line and the attacker fired a low shot past Charles for 2-0.

Luthermuir then made a change with Burn coming off for Mowatt to join the field. A good ball to Mowatt was controlled and she fed the ball to Lownie to skip away and she fired a low shot that the keeper pushed away for a corner.

Final chance of the game fell to Luthermuir when Mowatt was fouled down the centre about 35 yards from goal, Brough fired it at goal where the keeper spilled it behind for a corner, Murison whipped over the corner and Boyack just missed to connect and the ball went out for a goal kick.

Luthermuir are away this weekend to Kemnay Ladies in the League.
