Stonehaven Ladies edge it in extra time

Stonehaven Ladies travelled down to Forfar for the second week in a row after last week’s game was abandoned.

Stoney took the lead within the first couple of minutes, a corner swung in by Gordon on the left was met by C.Bowie at the back post to head home.

It was quickly 2-0, Kennedy beating the Forfar defenders to finish high past the Forfar keeper.

E.Bowie then made it 3-0 within the first 10 minutes of the match. Forfar did well to get back into the game, pulling two goals back before the break, with Stoney struggling with their pace on the counter attack.

Half time Forfar Farmington Development 2 - 3 Stonehaven Ladies FC

The second half got off to the worse possible start for Stoney, Campbell in the stoney defence seeing a very harsh red card. Forfar’s pressure paid off and they got their equaliser.

Neither team were able to get a winner in the 90 minutes so it went to extra time. Even with a player down, Stoney kept pushing forward and got the winner in the second half of extra time, a great cross from Penny found Jamieson in the box to head home.

Stoney were then reduced to nine players when Ferries saw her second yellow of the match but Stoney stood firm to progress to the third round, where they will travel down to Dundee to face Tayside Ladies on April 12.

Team lineup - Paterson, C.Bowie, McBay, Campbell, Urquhart, Gordon, Bradley, Penny, Ferries, E.Bowie, Kennedy. Subs - Brown, Jamieson, Dick, McMahon.
