Frank’s victory

Despite the early morning frost, Saturday was a lovely day for golf. In the singles competition Frank Urquhart found the going very easy to sign for 45 points, a whopping 8 points better off than Neil Robertson in second place. Ivan Groundwater and Jim Munro were in equal third place with 36 points.

Leading singles scores - Frank Urquhart(11) - 45pts, Neil Robertson(5) - 37, Ivan Groundwater(16), Jim Lonie(8) - 36, Kevin Reid(15), Richard Tindall(9) - 35, Jim Munro(16), John Findlay(13), Steve McGhie(5), Alistair Murray(14), Duncan Cursiter(11), Donald Mitchell(13) - 34.

Scores were a lot tighter in the doubles competition. In the scratch section Neil Irvine and Harry Roulston were the winners with a 63 mainly thanks to Harry and his 2’s at the seventh, eighth and eighteenth holes.

They won by a stroke from Barry McGillivray & Stuart Dempster and Kevin Riddell & Ross McAllan. In the handicap section there was a three way tie at the top between John Neal & Douglas Henderson, Gordon McHardy & George Deans and Martin McCoy & Colin Polson with a nett 56. Bert Droy & Ron Gilmour were a further stroke behind.
