The J M Adamson Greensomes Trophy was up for grabs at Stonehaven Golf Club on Saturday and the winners were club champion Bruce Ferguson and his partner Craig McKechnie. This new partnership obviously merged well together to score an excellent nett 60 to win by 1.5 strokes from Kevin Boyne and Kenny Gordon.
In joint third place with a 62 were Callum Mitchell & Neil Walker and Kevin Reid & Brian Reid. Eric Innes & Jim Hepburn were 5th on 62.5 and Gary Brown & Bob Leggate’s 63 was good enough for 6th place.
On Sunday the traditional mixed greensomes competition was held and a healthy 32 pairings entered. M Lornie & S Murray of Murcar won the scratch section with a gross 69 and Keith Taylor & Wilma Lawrence were first in the handicap section with a nett 60.
Shot of the day in the competition came from Bert Droy with a hole in one at the 8th hole with a 5 iron. It was his third hole in one and he was playing with his wife, Pam and Mr & Mrs Skene of Peterculter.
