Junior Triples

Stonehaven Bowling Club hosted the fourth annual Junior Triples Competition sponsored by the Stonehaven and District Lions Club, on January 29.

Six clubs entered a total of twelve teams who competed in two groups of six with the semi-finals being played between the winners of one group and the runners-up of the other group.

The clubs entering teams were Stonehaven, Aberdeen, Arbroath, Dundee, Garioch and Grampian.

Garioch B were top of Group One, with Grampian A, who were last year’s winners, as runners-up.

Stonehaven A were top of Group Two, with Garioch A as runners up.

In the semi-final Garioch A beat Garioch B and Grampian A beat the Stonehaven A team, consisting of Shaun McDonald, Megan Matthews and Skip Mark MacIntosh.

In the final the Grampian A team, consisting of Kevin Murray, Ronald McDougal and Alan Anderson met the Garioch A team, consisting of Martin Thomson, David Thomson and Jack Miller.

In a closely contested match the scores were even at five-all after five ends. In the last end Garioch A won by one shot.

The teams were presented with their trophies by Tony Bilsdon from the Stonehaven and District Lions Club.

The Stonehaven Junior Bowlers meet at the Bowls Club on a Thursday evening at 4.15pm, where potential members are always welcome. Go along to the club or call Jim Park on 01224 781701.
