Kwik Cricket Festival

THE first Mearns Primary Kwik Cricket Festival was held at Laurencekirk last week.

All seven feeder primary schools in the Mearns Network have received four school based taster sessions in Kwik Cricket.

All P6 pupils were involved in the sessions, with smaller schools also offering P4 and P5 pupils the opportunity.

Squads of 10 pupils were then selected to represent their school at the Cluster Festival last Wednesday and test their new found skills against the other local schools.

Laurencekirk and Marykirk accumulated the same points total on the day, but Laurencekirk lost less wickets and have qualified to represent the Mearns Network at the Aberdeenshire Event that is to be held in Huntly on Tuesday, June 8.

Sessions have been funded by Awards for all and organised and delivered by a partnership between Active Schools and Cricket Scotland.
