Luthermuir played host to Johnshaven last Wednesday and both teams started brightly with some nice flowing football.
Luthermuir took the lead in five minutes. Slessor crossed to the back post, Morrison headed back and Euan Duff swept the ball home.
Johnshaven created a few chances but could not break down the Luthermuir defence.
In 19 minutes Ryan Darar crossed for Greig to use his pace to evade the back line and he was unlucky when his shot went wide of the post.
in 39 minutes the keeper did well to tip over a 30 yard free-kick from Slesser.
From the resulting corner Slesser crossed for Darar to head straight at the keeper.
Just on half-time a cross from Greig was met by a spectacular scissor kick from Anderson but the ball came back off the post into the keeper’s arms.
Luthermuir started the second half brightly and scored in 52 minutes. Slesser slipped a great ball down the wing for Greig to twist and weave his way to the byline and cut the ball back for Anderson to score.
five minutes later, great work from Ellis in the middle of the park put Anderson down the wing and from his cross, Slesser had a great header saved by the keeper.
In 75 minutes a free kick just inside the Johnshaven half was crossed in by Young, Slesser headed back across goal and Anderson shot high into the net.
The third goal knocked the stuffing out of Johnshaven and Luthermuir pushed on for more. In 77 minutes Greig rifled the ball into the danger area, the keeper parried and Anderson knocked home for his hat-trick and his 500th goal for Luthermuir.
the fifth and final goal came into added on time when a free-kick by Miller into the Johnshaven half was again headed down to Anderson’s feet and he quickly took control and finished low into the corner of the net.
