Luthermuir ladies draw
in friendly

Luthermuir Women had a free weekend and entertained Dee Ladies from the North Division on a glorious afternoon on Sunday.

On 11 minutes a ball over the Dee back line had Bruce racing towards goal but she pulled her shot wide of the post. Within 4 minutes another good move down the left had Reoch clear and as she cut back inside the chasing defender she laid the ball square and Boyack shot into the keepers arms.

Luthermuir made a couple of changes with Borland and Forrester coming off for Murison and Nicoll to have a run out.

On 27 minutes a ball thrown in by Godsall was controlled by Reoch and as she slipped her marker she fired in a shot that the keeper saved well. The first half drew to a close with the Dee Ladies having a succession of corners and Charles tipped one onto the bar to keep the score at 0-0.

On 50 minutes a free kick out on the right was fired goalwards by Bruce but a defender got back into the six yard box and headed clear. Hendry and Crichton then came on to hopefully change the situation and within a few minutes a ball whipped over by Hendry was headed clear at the back post.

On 60 minutes a ball from Boyack found Bruce and as she headed into the box she was chopped down from behind. Bruce got up and hit the spot kick straight at the keeper, it was parried in the air and eventually cleared after a number of players went in to knock in the rebound. This seemed to give a new lease of life to Dee Ladies and they pushed Luthermuir back into their own half. A ball back from Nicol to Charles had an attacker racing towards her, she went to place a pass out wide to Middleton and the attacker got their first and fired home. On 77 minutes Luthermuir got back in the game when a corner out on the right was whipped over by Hendry. The keeper parried but Murison was first to react and lash home from six yards.

The game seemed to be heading for a draw even though Luthermuir were pressing their opponents for the winning goal and it nearly came.
