Luthermuir lose to Echt

Luthermuir returned to action for the first time since November 24 on Saturday, when they lost to old rivals Echt in the league.

Luthermuir showed a few changes to their line-up and brought in a couple of new faces.

Defences were on top for most of the first half as Luthermuir matched up to a big Echt team.

The turning point of the game came in 30 minutes. There was an incident at a corner. An Echt player was booked for elbowing Euan Duff and the Luthermuir defender was sent off for his retaliation.

The ten men upped their game and made it safely to half-time with the scoresheet blank.

Echt did not break the deadlock until the 75th minute. Luthermuir failed to clear the ball on the edge of the box and an attacker turned to fire the ball across Wands and into the net.

Echt wrapped things up five minutes from time when a cross from the left was headed home by an unchallenged attacker.
