Mearns win cup-tie

Westhill 1 Mearns United 2 MEARNS United were back in action on Saturday, beating Westhill in the second round of the Dickie Trophy.

Westhill are a new team to the league and are a good young side.

Westhill took the lead in the first half and held it until the break.

Mearns came out as if they meant business in the second half and after five minutes, White laid the ball off for Craig Irvine to score from 12 yards.

Ten minutes later, Beel laid the ball off for Stevie Law to score from the edge of the box.

Mearns were in command and might have stretched their lead, then in the final ten minutes, they had to hold on for victory as Westhill threw everything at them.
