Mild conditions for golfers

There was a healthy turnout of 19 pairings and 33 singles competitors for the first winter competition of the year. Golfers were treated to mild conditions over the weekend coupled with a testing wind on Saturday.

Jim Lonie found the conditions to his liking going round in a level par 66 giving him 44 points off his handicap of 8. This gave him a huge winning margin of 5 points over Duncan Cursiter and Steve McGhie. Ian Smith was a further point behind.

In the doubles competition clear winners in the handicap section were Kevin Duguid and Ewen Campbell with a nett 56 giving them a two stroke win over Alister Barnett & Tom Simpson and Ian Hastie & John Starrs. There was a three way tie in the scratch section between Stewart Allsop & Brian Lawson, Kevin Riddell & Ross McAllan and Stuart Dempster & Barry McGillivray with a 65.
