Mind boggling score for Stonehaven duo

Last week former Captain Sandy Walker and his partner, Malcolm MacEwen had an unbelievable nett score of 52 for the best score of the winter at Stonehaven Golf Club.

To prove this wasn’t a one off score they went one better on Saturday with a mind boggling 51. This comprised 11 nett birdies and two nett eagles at the 4th and 17th holes. Malcolm is now off to Vietnam for a month’s holiday to recover. This gave them a huge six stroke lead over pairings Chis Taylor & Ludwik Metelski and John Neal & Douglas Henderson. Neil Irvine and Harry Roulston just managed to pip Sandy and Malcolm for best scratch score with a 63.

Leading doubles scratch scores: Neil Irvine & Harry Roulston - 63; Sandy Walker & Malcolm MacEwen - 64; Willie Pittendreigh & Graeme Adamson, Colin Arthur & Alan Officer - 67; Kenny Duncan & Ian Wood, Brian Lawson & Stewart Allsop - 68.

In the singles section Chris Taylor had the best score of the day with an excellent 42 points. This gave him a three point lead over George Forrester with Ian Smith, Donald Mitchell and John Findlay two further strokes behind.

Junior winter scores: James Arandia (18) - 32, Cameron Davidson (11) - 21.
