Bowls season gets underway in K&M

The bowls season got underway across Kincardine and Mearns with many first jacks being thrown at the weekend.

Stonehaven Bowling Club opened their greens in a mixture of sunshine and rain on Saturday. President Joe Aitken wished everyone a good season and delivered the first bowl of the season with his Granddaughter Lauren Miller.

Anyone who fancied giving bowls a try would be made most welcome and the cub is able to supply a loan of bowls and shoes.”

A large turnout of members attended the official opening of the Laurencekirk Bowling green for the 2016 season on Sunday April 17.

President Max Harrison welcomed members to the the new season. Mary Wink was given the honour of casting the first jack of the season. New members are always welcome, and free tuition will be given to beginners. Anyone interested should contact Club Secretary Arthur Macdonald on 07810 374445.

At Bervie Bowling club, the honour of throwing the first jack on Saturday went to the clubs oldest member Ina Calder.

Drumlithie Bowling Club also opened their green recently.
