Arduthie primary seven pupil Jodie Harris won both singles and doubles at the recent North East Primary Championships for girls.
It was doubles first and Jodie Harris and partner, Rosie Sterk (P6), won through to the final while playing some superb badminton. In the final they were too strong for the pairing from Inverurie, treating the spectators to some wonderful shot-making and doubles tactics.
Arduthie were strongly represented in the singles, with three of the four semi-finalists Arduthie girls. Jodie played her doubles partner Rosie in one semi-final, while Anna Sterk (P5) took on Eve Smith from Mill O Forest. Jodie won through a tough match against Rosie, eventually using her experience to finish 21-11.
Some of the play displayed in the match was mesmerising for such young players.
Eve won a very competitive match against Anna in the other semi-final eventually winning 21-16.
Jodie took control of the final early on and once again showed her maturity and quality of shotmaking to win in fine fashion. She was a well-deserved double champion!
A spokesperson said: ‘‘Well done to everyone who took part in the competition, and good luck to all those who will be representing the area at the Scottish Schools Primary Championships in Perth next month.’’
