Stonehaven Amateur Swimming Club (SASC) is having a sponsored swim this month where participants will swim the distance of the London Marathon.

The club has been inspired by sisters, SASC Membership Secretary Kay Sellar and SASC Junior Bronze Squad Coach Janice Jamieson who will run the London Marathon.

The sponsored swim will take place at Stonehaven Leisure Centre on Sunday, March 20 from 5-8pm. The swimmers will be organised into relay teams with swimmers from each squad making up four teams - one for each lane of the pool.

All swimmers are being asked to swim a number of lengths depending on their ability. The aim of the swim is for the club to swim the distance of the London Marathon, with the distance counted for each team during the three hour event. The team that swims
the furthest distance will win a prize.

SASC is looking to support Kay and Janice by donating half of the money raised from the sponsored swim to their fundraising efforts. The sisters will be running for Children with Cancer UK at the London Marathon in April.

The theme for their chosen charity at the race in London is superheroes. The club will also take part in this with each team adopting a superhero name: Iron Man, Superman, Spiderman and The Hulk.

The swimmers will be able to dress up as their superhero or in their team colour with a prize for best costume for each team.
