The qualifying weekend of the Stonehaven Grand Prix saw perfect conditions with a surprise appearance from the sun on Sunday.

In the men’s singles there were four places up for grabs in the main draw next weekend.

Twenty nine men were battling it out producing great tennis. Ben Scott-Wilson, Jonathan Gordon, Louis Duthie Gray and Kieran Hamilton (pictured) made the semi finals so qualified for the main draw next weekend.

Stonehaven club mates Kieran and Louis had a brilliant semi final with Kieran coming out on top after saving match points. In the other semi final Jonathan beat Ben in a 3rd set match tie break.

Rubislaw’s Jonathan Gordon justified his top seeding in the Stonehaven Grand Prix qualifying event with a three set victory over the host club’s number three seed Kieran Hamilton in the final. Gordon was also taken the distance in both his quarter and semi-final matches before overcoming David Whyte (Westhill) and Ben Scott-Wilson (King’s College).

Gordon now progresses to the main draw which takes place this weekend between Friday and Sunday.

Well done to all players for competing hard and fair over the weekend.
