Stoney half Marathon gears up for 30th year

A cheque for ££650 has been presented to CLAN Stonehaven from organisers of the 2014 Stoney Half Marathon.

£1 from each entry went to the chosen charity and the rest was made up of donations from the runners.

The 2015 event will take place on Sunday, July 5.

A spokesperson said: ‘‘This will be its 30th year. Entries have now been open for a month and we already have nearly 100 runners signed 
up.

‘‘As well as the normal medal for every entrant we are also hoping to hand out technical t-shirts to all runners.’’

Stonehaven Running Club are organisers of the half marathon which caters for all standards and ages of runners. There are regular training sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings as well as Friday and Saturday mornings.

They also have a number of ad-hoc sessions which encompass such things as moonlight runs, trail runs, hill runs and team races.
