With the winter weather continuing to beat expectations, a welcome sight has been noticed around the golf club with the arrival of some ‘summer golfers’ who are starting to being seen around the place, perhaps a bit confused by the lack of snow so far this winter.
The winter league, now in its 14th week, continues to be popular - particularly on Saturdays - although an ever increasing overflow is taking place on Sunday mornings.
This was the case last weekend with Saturday’s golfers getting slightly better frost lifting conditions than their Sunday counterparts.
Leading scores in the Scratch Doubles were Neil Irvine and Harry Roulston who had a gross score of 61, three shots better than Kenny Duncan and Ian Wood, although their net 54 could be more valuable come the finals weekend in March.
George Deans and Gordon McHardy recorded a nett 58 to keep them in contention for the finals.
In the singles competition, Alex Geddes produced his best score of the winter with 39 stableford points - two better than Iain Taylor.
