It was the turn of the second round of the Cowie Cup to determine the winner of the first major of the season. After the first round Paul Forster held a two stroke lead with an excellent nett 59.
Despite having his handicap chopped from 22 to 19, Paul returned a nett 65 in the second round which was good enough to maintain his two stroke advantage over Tim Prentice and Steve Birss in joint second place. One stroke further behind was Davie Morrison who returned the best nett score of the day with a 59.

The second round of the Cowie Cup was also the qualifying round of the J M Low stroke matchplay competition. All those with a nett 69 or better qualified and the draw is now up on the noticeboard. Tie of the round could be between Neil Irvine and his present doubles partner Harry Roulston.
On Sunday the men played their first match in the Deeside League at home to Braemar. New captain of the team Doug Lorimar got off to a winning start with a 6-0 whitewash.

Also on Sunday the juniors played their second match in the pennant league at home to Aboyne. Both teams were short of numbers with Stonehaven only having 9 available players and Aboyne only able to muster 8 players. Despite this it was still a keenly fought match with the visitors proving too strong in the end. Our next match is away to Inverurie this Sunday.
