Stoney girls make an impression at gymnastics meet

13 GIRLS from Stonehaven Gymnstics Club competed in the recent scottish two-piece beginner and intermediate competition at the Bells sports centre in Perth.

In the 9 years section Glenn Masson was placed fourth on floor and won the fourth place ribbon overall, Jessica Morrow was placed 19th overall out of 54 competitors.

In the 10/11 years section Catherine Wotherspoon was placed second on floor and and won the silver medal overall. Stacey Hay was placed fourth on vault and the team of Catherine, Stacey, Neve Murray, Sophie Owen and Holly Griffiths won team bronze medal against 13 other teams. Amy Duncan also competed very well in this age group with over 70 competitors.

In the 12+ years section Laura Groundwater was placed first on vault and won the bronze medal overall, the team of Laura, Bethany Bruce, Lauren Maitland and Heather Blasdale won the bronze team medal against 13 other teams and over 60 competitors.

In the 12+years intermediate section Leona Willox competed well in a tough field of over 30 gymnasts narrowly missing a vault place.
