Due to work being carried out by the Forestry Commission in Fetteresso Forest, the Stoney Stomp is moving to a new home in Durris Forest next month.

On Saturday September 8, runners from across the North East will meet to compete in either a 5km or 10km run along the stunning forest trails from 12 noon.

The Stomp continues into the evening with a ceilidh in Stonehaven Town Hall from 7pm – 11pm. This year local ceilidh band The Reel McCoy provide the live music and will help conduct the events first ever sponsored Strip the Willow!

The Stomp is a not for profit event and supports a different charity each year. In 2012 the team will be donating all proceeds to Macmillan Cancer Support. Last year over £500 was raised and event sponsors imorph Limited match funded this bringing the total to £1003.78 which was donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Race entry is £8 and ceilidh tickets are priced at £8 for runners, £10 for adults and £5 for under 12’s. The Stomp is a great event and everyone is welcome to run, spectate and dance the night away!

Runners can sign up online or by post and ceilidh tickets can be purchased online or from Giulianottis, Evan Street,Stonehaven. Full event information and links to online registration can be found at www.stoneystomp.org.uk.
