Title between three teams.

A COVERING of snow over brick-hard pitches led to the postponement of all scheduled Welfare League fixtures for the second successive Sunday.

The league now goes into a two-week festive season break and matches will resume on January 10, weather permitting.

It is shaping up to be a very interesting title race. At the moment, Abbot and Golf Inn top the table with identical records, eight wins and one draw from nine games.

Biggest challengers to the Montrose pair are Springers who can never be counted out. The powerful Brechin side, winners of three cups last season, are capable of going on a run which would blast them right back into the title race.

It is probably between these three teams for the title, although Hudsons and MCT might still have a say.

Montrose League interest in the Templeton Scottish Cup is over and in the Daily Record Cup, only Golf Inn and Fettercairn remain to fly the flag. Golf and Fettercairn will play their next ties early in the New Year.

Golf Inn and Springers are though to the League Cup final, but the other three cup competitions, the Piggins Cup, Review Cup and Matrix Cup have still to get underway.

2010 is certain to bring plenty of excitement as the Welfare League's 12 teams battle to see who will lift the silverware between now and June.
