Dunnottar Castle in the heart of Kincardineshire will provide a backdrop for one of the biggest computer games around.

The latest instalment of big budget video game Call of Duty will see a multi-player map entitled ‘Stonehaven’ with users playing in a ruined castle.

The screenshot pictured shows the ruinsbeing directly inspired by Dunnottar Castle.

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released in early Novemember with the ‘Stonehaven’ map taking place in a coastal town with a ruined castle.

The previous instalment in the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 2, sold millions of copies worldwid and made over £600 million.
