The first Laurencekirk Bonfire and Firework Display for 18 years is to be held this Saturday from 6pm, organised by the Business Club.

The non-profit organization has planned and organised the event which is open to the whole local community.

Doug Mitchell, local haulage contractor, has loaned of one of his open platforms to use as a stage for talents such as guitarist Max McGinley and singer Sean McCabe and more.

‘Howe o’ the Mearns’ Pipe Band will be opening the event.

Hugo’s are looking after stovies and hot soup provided by Marion Robson from the Dickson Hall.

The Laurencekirk firefighters are also going to be there with one of their fire engines for demonstration, which will be great for the children to see.

It is free entry to the event, although any donations are welcome.

The bonfire is due to be lit at 6.30pm (fireworks at 7.30) with the guy made by children from Laurencekirk Primary School due to be burned.

The professional firework display has been organized by Mark Farquharson and Andrew Ogilvie from Mearns Hardware.

The raffle tickets will also be drawn on the night, so remember your tickets.
