Clashfarquhar House, Church of Scotland Home is holding a ‘Drop in Café’ on Saturday , October 24 between 2 and 4 pm.
The event is the first in a series of fundraising activities to enable the home to build a dementia garden within its grounds.
The garden will be for the use of the residents and those who use the day care facilities at Clashfarquhar.
One generous donation has been made to start this off but several more will be needed to raise the necessary funds.
Saturday’s event takes the form of a café with tea, coffee and cakes to stimulate the taste buds and music in the form of song, to relax and enjoy.
The Friends of Clashfarquhar are providing bakes for the event and the entertainment will be from singers Jean and Peter Webster with Ian Gillis at the piano.
All three are well known at Clashfarquhar and indeed Ian’ mother was a resident there for several years. Peter and Jean know the benefits of a dementia garden as Peter’s mother suffered from dementia for many years.
She was a resident in a home which had the benefit of a secure garden and she enjoyed being able to walk safely alone or with Peter or other members of the family and enjoy the stimulus of the walking around the flowers in the open air.
