Aberdeenshire house prices remain steady

House prices remained steady in Aberdeenshire in December – with a lack of movement maintaining the longer-term trend.

Property prices in Aberdeenshire have shown little change, according to the latest figures.

That trend has seen prices in the area achieve 1.6 per cent annual growth. The average Aberdeenshire house price in December was £183,687, according to Registers of Scotland, largely unchanged from November.

Over the month, the picture was better than across Scotland, where prices fell by 1.2 per cent.

Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Aberdeenshire rose by £2,900 – putting the area 29th among Scotland’s 32 local authorities for annual growth.

The best annual growth was in the Shetland Islands, where property prices increased on average by 19.9 per cent, to £167,000. At the other end of the scale, properties in Aberdeen lost 2.1 per cent of their value, giving an average price of £143,000.
