Mrs Carol Kinghorn, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Kincardineshire has appointed Alastair Macphie of Glenbervie House, Stonehaven, as the new Deputy Lieutenant.
He will assist Mrs Kinghorn in carrying out her duties on behalf of HM the Queen within the county.
Mr Macphie has worked with the family firm of Macphie of Glenbervie Ltd., for over 25 years.
He has been chairman since 1997, leading the development of the company, which manufactures food ingredients supplying bakers, caterers and food processors with bakery mixes and sauces.
The company, which has its headquarters at Glenbervie, now employs 275 people, with an annual turnover of £45million, but still maintains strong links with the local community, schools and colleges.
He is the owner of Glenbervie Estate, which now produces 4.6 megawatts of renewable energy.
Mr Macphie’s mother, Mrs Jill Macphie, was also deputy lieutenant and former vice-lord lieutenant until her recent retiral. Married with two daughters, he and his wife Fiona have lived at Glenbervie for 25 years.
