She will be setting out to complete the Crathes Half-Marathon in aid of The ARCHIE Foundation.

The mother of two took up running again in January after completing her last half- marathon over a decade ago.

Previously, she completed the London Marathon back in 1997 and four Great North Runs but only recently began clocking up the miles again and ran the Baker Hughes 10km run back in May in 55 minutes for ARCHIE.

She said: ’When my youngest daughter, Jessica, was born back in 2008, she spent nearly two weeks in hospital and then as a toddler she had several spells at ARCH ,and was so well looked after that I wanted to raise funds for this hugely important and essential cause in Aberdeen.’

Andrea trains mostly by herself but also runs with her workplace, Lathallan School’s ‘360 Health and Well-being group’, where she is development and marketing manager.

She added: ‘I’m setting myself no real time pressures for this run, I just want to enjoy the countryside and hopefully raise a lot of funds for ARCHIE!

“My family has been a huge encouragement and will welcome me at the finish line!”

When asked what her next challenge was, Andrea said ‘Possibly the Belfast Marathon in May 2015, if my legs could manage!”
