A family are asking for help tracing their youngest boy’s cat who went missing on the Spurryhillock industrial estate two days before his birthday.
Katrina Stephen, who lives in Gourdon, grew concerned a couple of weeks ago when her son’s cat, Bert, didn’t come in for his dinner.
It transpired that Bert had wandered into the open door of a neighbour’s van unnoticed, then bolted out onto the Spurryhillock industrial estate later that day.
Every day since, Katrina and family have been desperately searching for Bert, the loss of which has really upset the household.
Katrina said: “I’ve been driving around near the area he disappeared at 4am calling for him, I’ve put posters up at the Co-op, on lamp posts and outside schools.
“I put up Facebook posts on various sites looking for him but it’s been two weeks and he’s not been found. My children are in bits.”
Katrina lives with her three boys, aged 17, 13, and 12. Bert was one of two kittens given to her youngest, Kian, for his 11th birthday on November 26, 2014.
Bert, who is just over a year old, went missing on Tuesday, November 24 - two days before Kian’s 12th birthday.
Katrina added: “My son’s Birthday was ruined as we expect Christmas will be too. He doesn’t know whether to feel happy for his gifts and the coming festive events or to be sad about his missing cat. I see flickers of guilt when he laughs and it’s awful.”
Bert is a grey, pedigree-looking cat, adopted from Cats Protection with his brother, Ernie.
Katrina said that Ernie is pining for his lost brother - not going outside for very long, playing less, and sleeping alot more than he used to.
We at the Leader would ask anyone with information as to Bert’s whereabouts to contact us on 01569 766 940, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org, under the subject heading ‘Bert’.
