Our team of reporters are taking on the Beast Race in Banchory this Saturday raising funds for charity along the way.
Lee McCann from the Mearns Leader will join reporters Sean O’Neil, Scott Milne, Christopher Bradley and Martyn Simpson from the Buchan Observer, Fraserburgh Herald and Deeside Piper respectively for the 10k obstacle course.
The team at the time of print are close to their fundraising target of £1000 for local charity CLAN Cancer Support.
The team who have called themselves ‘Sprint Journalism’ will take part in the Beast Race at Knockburn Loch, Banchory on September 26.
The team will drag themselves through thick mud; climb over 12ft-high wooden walls; wade through shoulder-high bog water; pile over pontoons; scurry under barbed wire; jump into an icy loch; slide into deep water and get tangled in a giant rope web.
When they get through that they will then bounce over hurdles; clamber up a tower of giant bales; feel their way through pitch-black tunnels; scramble over vertical cargo nets; dunk under massive water pontoons and thrash up steep loose slopes.
Leader and Observer reporter Lee McCann has penned his thoughts before the race which can be found on page 28.
