Stonehaven Gardening Club held a successful flower show on Saturday, the biggest and best for many years.

With the summer weather ever changing, the group was not anticipating a great turnout of competitors but on the Monday before the show it was inundated by application forms. The final tally of entrants was 64 with estimated number of entries of around 500 with 38 for the floral art section.

The prizes were presented by Mairi Evans, MSP for Angus North and Mearns. This year’s prizewinners were:

Best Sunflower 4-7 years: 1, Isla Cleary; 2, Holly Adams; 3, Lucas Currid.

Best Sunflower 8-11 years: 1, Lucy Adams; 2, Maisie Cameron; 3, Finley Fraser.

Best Exhibit Sweet Peas - Brian Grant.

Best Exhibit Roses - Archie Ferguson.

Best Exhibit Gladioli - Rhona Robertson.

Best Exhibit Cut Flowers - Sheila Craigmile.
