The Laurencekirk Business Club moves forward with its introduction of inviting a guest speaker each month.
Chairwoman Ann Johnson (Blaze Manufacturing Solutions) introduced the evening to an enthusiastic room of members and new visitors. The meeting kicked off with an excellent first guest speaker, Anne Lawson from Mattoli Woods, a specialist in employer pensions, benefits and employee retention.
This first session by Anne gave an excellent account of how important staff retention is, how certain inexpensive products can assist and she gave an informative discussion around the impending auto-enrolment, which every business will be affected by.
She highlighted the importance of creating a landscape to recruit, retain and engage staff with employee benefits and shared her knowledge on funded voluntary schemes, group insured benefits and employers’ responsibilities.
Her talk gave a no nonsense practical account with advice on how to be tax efficient with practical solutions on the best use of available benefits for your business and information on funded voluntary benefit schemes.
Anne offered open questions following her talk to the group, giving some very handy advice; all in all it was a first class meeting with time for some good networking among members and visitors over tea and cakes in the lovely Dickson Hall coffee shop.
The club invites all business people to a series of business-focused talks throughout 2015. They will take place in the café at the Dickson Hall on the last Tuesday of each month and a speaker will be arranged for each session, with some time for Q&A.
A great chance for networking with other business owners and friends from the area.
Next meeting will be on Tuesday, March 31, at 7.30pm with guest speaker Bruce Herald from FSB:Federation of Small Businesses.
