Mearns Camera Club’s ‘Storm’ Competition was judged last Monday (March 5) at their weekly meeting, in Stonehaven Community Centre.

Judge John Chapman MPAGB commented on the high standard of entries and the difficulty he had found in picking the winning entries in each category.

He is a keen photography fanatic whose special interest is in landscapes and wildlife images and he saw much to commend the entries on show.

Commenting on his marking he said he had tried to be fair to everyone and had only picked a first place on his individual preference as several entries could have won.

Consequently there was no second and third place, just runners up. The results were as follows:

Monochrome Print 1st Wild Weather – Pat Copner 20 points; Runners Up Head Down – Martin Sim 19 Points; Snowstorm Over Dunnottar – Russell Adams 19 points; Stoney Storm 2 – Graham Shanks 19 points; Storm Clouds - Ping Ling 19 points Stormy Catterline – John McSevney 19 points.

Colour Print 1st Place Hypnotic Sea - Ian Wood 20 points; Runners Up Catterline Bay – Ian Wood 19 points; February Storm – Mike Reid 19 points; Heading For A Storm – Pat Copner 19 points; MRI 42 – Martin Sim 19 points; Pier Closed – Allan Sutherland 19 points; Storm Brewing – Stuart Caie 19 point; The Pier Is Closed – Mike Reid 19 points.

Neil Weston thanked John for judging the competition adding that the close marking had made for a keenly fought contest and an exciting evening.
