“Woman of the Way”

Thursday October 29, 7.45pm-9.45pm

Women of the Way is a group open to ladies of the parish. It meets fortnightly to learn more about God and discuss how members can apply their faith in their daily lives and to support one another. As well as studying the Bible, and a time of prayer, the group always have lots of fun at meetings. They have recently welcomed a number of new members, and are always delighted to have new people along.

Blythewood Shoe Box appeal 2015

Arbuthnott, Bervie and Kinneff Church are once again Co-ordinating their local Shoebox Appeal, which sends Shoeboxes filled with simple gifts to children and adults in Eastern Europe and further afield, who would otherwise not receive any presents this Christmas.

Bervie collection is on Wednesday November 11, 3pm from Bervie Church Centre, King Street.

Breast Buddies Bervie

Breast buddies meet on Tuesdays (Term Time) at The Living Rooms, Church Street, 10am-11.30am. If you are pregnant or Breast Feeding the please join us for a Cuppa, Cake and Chat. £1 Donations for Refreshments. Breast Feeding Councillors on hand for help and advice.

Bervie Youth Project

First order of Business is to Thank Cameron Sclater for his major contribution to Bervie Youth Project. Cameron was presented with a certificate to mark his 50 hours service through his Sports mentoring, Youth Café and Committee work.

Cameron (17), from Inverbervie studies PE, RMPS, Engineering and HE in S6 at Mackie Academy, with a real love of cooking, he boasts he makes the Best Melba Toast! Cameron works at Hornblowers in Gourdon and loves his work, saying that it’s a great team to work with. His spare time is spent Playing Rugby for the Mackie School team. Cameron is still to choose his future career path, but we know its going to be a successful one as he gives 100%.

The Committee are excited be back for our winter projects from Saturday November 7, Sports, 3pm-4pm Bervie Sports Centre, Kirkburn P6 up, FREE and Youth Café, 7pm-9pm Herd Centre, Townhead P7 up, FREE

We will be adding to our team of Sports Mentors and if you are interested in joining us every 2 or 3 weeks for an hour, please get in touch. (Travel Expenses can be met)

If you can make and serve hot chocolate on a Saturday evening (on rota) from 6.30pm to set up til 9pm at our Youth Café which has moved back to The Herd Centre, Townhead, Bervie then also get in touch. Our rota means that everyone can take a turn. If you can spare 1 to 2 hours on a 2-3 weekly rotation please contact Caroll on 01561 361587 or email [email protected]

‘Meet the Committee’

Bervie is run off the backs of Committees, so we would like to introduce you to our Committees and their members. Thomas Smith known to all as Tommy, pictured here as a Commonwealth Baton Bearer for the Queens Baton Relay and was 2013’s Royal Burgh of Inverbervie Gala Committees Citizen of the Year.

He was nominated for both events for his years of service to The Royal Burgh serving Bervie Gala for five years as Treasurer then Chairperson and has Run the Gala 5’s for approximately 20 years. Bervie Soccer 7’s as Chairperson or Secretary for 10 years

Bervie Caley Youth & Soccer 7’s as Chairperson or Secretary for four years

Tommy has been married to wife Angela for 25 years and has two sets of twin boys aged 16 and 18. He works as an Engineering Director at Aiken Group and in his rare down time he enjoys football, running, golfing, gardening and reading. Tommy’s garden and garage are his favourite place in Bervie which allows some therapeutic time.

Tommy’s favourite thing about the Royal Burgh is the friendliness and the great Community Spirit.
