Car set on fire deliberately

FLAMES could be seen rising into the air early on Monday morning in Portlethen when a car was set on fire.

The Fiat Seicentro was set on fire in Schoolhill Road, in front of the home of Susan Turnbull, the car was believed to belong to a friend of her son. The police are treating the fire as as deliberate.

Firefighters also attended two other blazes in the Mearns area at the weekend.

They were called out to a kitchen fire in Newtonhill on Sunday evening. They were at the house for half an hour before the blaze was put out. There were no casualties.

Another blaze on Sunday saw the firefighters rescue a cat from a house fire on Park Drive in Stonehaven. There were no injuries.
