Castle, 700, seeks like minded custodian for working relationship

Dunnottar Castle is currently on the look-out for a new member of staff to help deal with the ever-increasing number of visitors.

Applications are currently being invited for the role as ‘Assistant Custodian’ with the deadline coming on Sunday, January 24.

Jim Wands, Custodian at Dunnottar told the Leader that increasing numbers of visitors mean more staff are required to maximise the experience.

He said: “We’re looking for a new member to join our team to help us continue to provide a fantastic visitor experience.

“We want to keep up the high standards we have here and need a new person to join us in order to meet the growing demand from visitors.”

The job will involve a number of duties including property maintenance, business management and Promotion & PR.

The castle is looking for “An enthusiastic and conscientious person with excellent customer service skills and strong practical skills.”

The post is full-time and will start in April.

“Applicants should have a good level of physical fitness and be prepared to work some weekend days.

During the summer period the hours are 8.30am to 6.30pm, five days a week.

During the winter period the hours are 9.30am - a half hour before sunset (much of the winter period is 9.30am to 3.30pm.
