Catterline Braes Action group are continuing to carry out work to improve the stability of the Catterline braes and received funding from Aberdeenshire Council this week.
At the Kincardine and Mearns Area Committee on Tuesday, October 27 at Viewmount the group were seeking £1,000 from the Area Committee budget, which was granted.
The group have also recently received £2,500 funding from the Hillhead of Auquhirie Community Benefit Fund.
A report prepared for councillors at the Area Committee meeting stated: “The work includes installing drainage pipes to minimise annual maintenance and install 2 trial sites using the “PLATIPUS” system of anchored sacks and netting as installed on the Bervie Braes. They hope to continue drainage operations and plant more trees to supplement the 400 trees planted last year and improve the stability of the braes.
“The group recognised at an early stage the need to take action themselves and whilst they have sought advice from the Council they have been very proactive in their endeavour to find a local solution to a local issue. The total cost of the project is £5,175.00.”
