Support is continuing to grow for Stoney’s Christmas shoppping extravaganza, torch-lit parade and lights switch-on next Saturday, November 29.

For one day only - as part of the festive fun day - tickets for their Hogmanay live gig will be on sale at Number 44 (the Royal Hotel) instead of online.

They will be available at reception from 10am for £37.50.

Tickets for the popular annual event - which will also feature top Scots folk act The Peatbog Faeries and other acts being named soon - are being sold locally to cater for those who are unable to buy on the internet. At the same time, they will still be available online at web site.

Meanwhile Stonehaven Library is also getting into the spirit of the day. At 11am there will be a Bookbug session for under-fives, with stories/rhymes/action songs and at 1.30pm there will be a Storytime session for five to eight- year-olds.

The Red Cross charity shop in Barclay Street is also taking part with lots of festive gifts, decorations, Christmas cards and a great selection of ladies evening wear that won’t break the bank. They will also have a raffle and a kids’ lucky dip. Nail painting will be on offer from 2 to 4pm.

Members of Mackie FP Rugby Club have also volunteered to join the parade - dressed in suitable seasonal costumes.

Scores of Stonehaven shops, businesses and eateries will be offering special discounts and bargain offers on the day.

They will also be creating festive window displays and staff will be dressing up in fairytale or panto costumes.

Stonehaven land train will be running during the day, Santa will be making an appearance on his sledge and Porridge the donkey will be a special guest at a nativity scene in the Market Square.

The costume parade starts at 5.30pm followed by the lights switch-on between 6.0 and 6.30.

Also in the Square will be a small fun fair, an assortment of live music and refreshments provided by various Stonehaven organisations.
